Are you a broiler or egg producer whose operation has been directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic? USDA is implementing Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 for agricultural producers who continue to face market disruptions and associated costs because of COVID-19.
The application period for CFAP 2 closed on December 11 for most producers. Under CFAP Additional Assistance, certain producers are now eligible to apply for CFAP 2 and others may modify existing applications. USDA’s Farm Service Agency will accept new or modified applications from January 19 through February 26, 2021. Learn more at farmers.gov/cfap.
Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2, or CFAP 2, will provide producers with financial assistance that gives them the ability to absorb some of the increased marketing costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. USDA will accept CFAP 2 applications from September 21, 2020 through December 11, 2020. Learn more at farmers.gov/cfap2.
Broiler and Egg Eligibility
CFAP 2 payments are available for eligible producers of broilers and eggs, which are categorized as price trigger commodities. Specifically, price trigger commodities suffered a five percent-or-greater national price decline in a comparison of the average prices for the week of January 13-17, 2020, and July 27-31, 2020.
Eggs eligible for CFAP 2 include dried, frozen, liquid, and shell eggs.
Commodities grown under a contract in which the grower has ownership and production risk are eligible for CFAP 2.
CFAP 2 Payments for Broilers
For broilers, payments will be equal to:
- 75 percent of the producer’s 2019 broiler production
- Multiplied by the payment rate of $1.01 per bird (head).
Payments for broiler producers who began farming in 2020 and had no production in 2019 will be based on the producer’s actual 2020 broiler production as of the date the producer submits an application for payment.
CFAP 2 Payments for Eggs
Payments for eggs will be equal to 75 percent of the producer’s 2019 egg production multiplied by the CCC payment rate. Payments for egg producers who began farming in 2020 and had no production in 2019 will be based on the producer’s actual 2020 egg production as of the producer’s application date.
The following table lists commodity-specific payment rates for eligible egg commodities.
|Commodity||Units of Measure||Payment Rate ($/Unit)|
